HOCUS POCUS ／ 木村カエラ
ゼクシィでの『butterfly』のあの歌声が気になってしかたなく、聞いてしまった木村カエラ『hocus pocus』。
しっかり聴いて、やっぱり間違いなかったと確認した。イイ曲だなと。
作曲は末光篤とクレジットされている。
この人SUEMITSU & THE SUEMITHなんだということを初めて知る。
「のだめ」の主題歌のあのピアノ！曲の終わりの音が、「ああ、あの感じだ」と自分の中でつながった。
転調の感じや盛り上げ方なんかきっちりしていて、そうか、自分はこういう作りの曲が好きなんだなと今さらながら気づかされる。
木村カエラの印象は、モデル出身ということもあるのかもしれないけど、スタイルや髪型に意識が行きがちで。なんとなく奥田民生とのコラボやサディスティック・ミカ・バンドのタイムマシンにおねがいといったイメージが強すぎて、ちょっとおじさん達のアイドル的な位置にいるように思っていた。そういえばタモリ倶楽部でも、その存在になんの違和感も感じなかったりもして。もちろん勝手な思いこみなのだけど。
このアルバムでも、「Dear Jazzmaster '84」「Phone」「どこ」「BANZAI」と楽器も曲調も種々のスタイルの曲が盛り込まれているけど、全曲を通じて一貫して強い個性が感じられるのは、さすが。
全曲の歌詞を自身で作詞していることを考えると、あのテンポ良く歌にノセる言葉の数々に、やっぱりミュージシャンとしてすごいんだなぁと。
なるほど、ちちんぷいぷいの魔法をかけられてしまっているだろう自分。
ところで、木村カエラの出身を広島だと思いこんでいたのだが･･･。東京生まれ、東京育ちだということをwikiで知る。奥田民生やPerfumeとのつながりで、広島出身なんだろうと、これも勝手な思いこみで。映画ホームメイド10．30の印象も強く残っていたのもあるかもしれない。
（あの広島弁は、地元の人が聞くと違うことがすぐわかるのかな？）
こんなふうに人のイメージって、好き勝手に作られていくんだろうな〜。
